The 7 Days Teacher Training Program for the first batch of Teachers under the Digital Literacy Initiative project came to a successful closing today. 35 teachers from Punakha, Gasa and Wangduephodrang attended the training from 8-14 July. The project is an initiative of VTOB with support from Dariu Foundation and in consultation with the MoESD Sherig Bhutan. Specifically, the Digital Literacy Initiative project will equip 38 schools across the country with 710 laptops and provide teacher training to 195 teachers on Coding with an aim to impart coding skills to 7600 students in their schools. The teacher training program on DLI for 7 days is planned to provide teachers from primary and lower secondary schools with relevant digital skills with a focus on coding. They will be further get reinforced on the key competencies of the ICT curriculum framework for classes PP-VIII. In the course of 7 days, the participants will engage in creating animations, games, and applications using different coding platforms. On the last day, they design plans to initiate a code club in their schools to reach out the digital skills to students. The training not only will equip the teachers with digital skills but will also train them to run a coding club to enhance the digital literacy skills of their students. Thank you Sherig Bhutan for the continued support and collaboration. We thank the participants for your active participation and support. VTOB offers our heartfelt gratitude to our Trainers too for the action packed and excellent facilitation.
